The VII Games of La Francophonie will take place from September 6 to 15, 2013, in Nice, France. Previous games took place in Morocco in 1989, France in 1994, Madagascar in 1997, Canada in 2001, Niger in 2005, and Lebanon in 2009.
The Games of La Francophonie are the only major international games that include both sports and cultural competitions. The Games are a unique opportunity to showcase the scope and originality of the French culture as well as athletic ability in French-speaking countries around the world.
The Games have already given thousands of artists from the 56 State and Government members of La Francophonie a chance to perform on the world stage. This could be your opportunity to make your mark as a member of the Canada-New Brunswick 2013 cultural team.
Three teams will showcase Canada’s cultural vitality. The Canadian cultural delegation to the Games of La Francophonie is divided into three teams: Canada, Canada-Quebec and Canada-New Brunswick.
YOU ARE INVITED TO PARTICIPATE IF YOU ARE:
- a New Brunswick resident and Canadian citizen
- 18-35 years of age, and
- an artist in any of the following disciplines: Street Performance (giant puppets, juggling, hip hop dance), Visual Arts (painter, sculptor), Singer, Storyteller, Dancer, Writer, Photographer, Digital Creation
The cultural competition is open to all New Brunswick artists. Athletes and artists who participate in the Games of La Francophonie are selected on the basis of the quality of performance.
All applications will be judged by panels composed of recognized professionals in the different artistic disciplines from across New Brunswick. The applications will then be reviewed and validated by a panel from the International Committee of the Games of La Francophonie (CIJF). Only one artist may be chosen to represent Canada–New Brunswick in each discipline.
The judges’ decisions will be announced in December 2012.
During the cultural competitions at the Games, Team Canada–New Brunswick artists will compete with artists from other State and Government members of La Francophonie, and be judged by an international panel of professional artists.
Candidates must complete the Entry Form and send four copies of all documents and support material, no later than July 20, 2012, to the following address:
