Deadline: 23 July 2012
The Poetry Route is an Edmonton Poetry Festival project that puts short poems onto Edmonton transit vehicles. Three times a year we circulate a new flight of four poems in 800 ETS buses and LRT cars.
For our next flight, 'Urban Beats,' our aim is to feature work from local inner-city voices; writers from outside the mainstream who don't always have the opportunity to showcase their creativity.
Content-wise, the theme is wide open; however due to the physical dimensions of the bus placards, submissions are limited to a maximum of 10 lines. (Excerpts from longer works are acceptable.)
The poetry will circulate on ETS buses and LRT cars for a minimum of eight weeks, through September and October 2012.
We provide an honorarium of $100 to each of the four poets whose work is chosen.
The submission deadline for 'Urban Beats' has been extended to July 23, 2012. Submissions can be sent via email to poetryroute@gmail.com or by regular mail to:
